The Importance of Microchips

Microchips are key in reuniting pets with their distraught owners. Unike a tag an collar which can come off, they are permament and cannot be removed. Microchips have become standard practice for most shelters and rescue groups when adopting out their pets. They not only help find owners of lost pets more quickly, they also cut down on shelter overpopulation.

Microchips are quite simple and they are easy to inject. Still, many pet owners don’t see the benefits in microchipping their dogs or cats, or they don’t know how to fully use the technology. Many people who do microchip ther pets do not register them or update them so the chip is basically useless becasue there is no information to connect with the lost pet.

Microchips have saved countless pets during emegencies, such as forest fires and tornados when they get separated from their owners. They can help distraught pet owners and scared pets avoid the shelter and get home to their families quickly.
