10 Reasons to Have Your Pet Groomed Regularly

1. They come home feeling soft and smelling great

I sleep with my dogs. Regular grooming helps keep my bed from being full of hair. When I am not sleeping they are on my lap or at my feet waiting for the next lap-ortunity. I love for them to be silky soft and smelling like fresh blueberry shampoo. It is much more pleasant to snuggle clean pups!

2. They will begin to enjoy the process

If your dog isn’t groomed often, he may fear the groomer trip. This might affect his behavior on the grooming table, and the outcome of the haircut. Even short haired breeds should see a groomer about every 6 to 8 weeks for a good bath, blow dry, nail trim and ear clean out. Once a dog is seeing a groomer on a regular basis, they start to look forward to the experience. I love it when a dog closes his eyes in the tub and relaxes, enjoying the massage. Your dog deserves a spa day!

3. Your home will be cleaner

With regular grooming comes less tumbleweeds of hair! Do you find yourself constantly sweeping? It might be time for a de-shed. Many double coated breeds “blow” their coat twice a year or during major season changes.

4.A groomer has the right tools

Grooming at home is important and is a good bonding activity for you and your pet, however, it is still important to have your pet groomed professionally. A groomer is trained to be very thorough, getting every last tangle and blow drying each strand after the bath. Professional groomers have a whole caddy of commercial tools to use. Keep brushing at home, but don’t skip your appointment.

5.Less vet visits

Regular grooming can equal less vet visits. Keeping nails trimmed can help a dog’s posture tremendously, reducing the risk of pain, inflammation, and arthritis. Regular grooming can keep dogs from developing fungus on skin, and can even help provide relief from dust and grass allergies. Regular grooming reduces chance of ear infections, eye infections, and anal gland issues. Professional grooming is not just for poodles!

6.They look stylish

It’s fun to have a pretty dog. I love taking my girls to dog friendly patios right after I groom them. They are showered with compliments and they just beam proudly in their bows and bandanas. They know when they are extra beautiful. If you have a long haired breed, try a stylish fun hair cut! Fur grows back and it is fun to let your pet match your personality. They don’t mind.

7.They feel happier

It feels better to be clean and trimmed. Dogs get hot and uncomfortable when their hair grows thick or long, and mats up into a fur-cast. Tangled hair can pull on skin, causing discomfort and sometimes making a dog even irritable. Regular grooming will make your pet feel better and happier.

8.Less skin problems
